A Call for Community Support and Recognition
Join the Campaign to Honour Fallen Domestic Helpers, an urgent initiative spearheaded by Be The Change Hong Kong Limited and the Hong Kong Initiative for Diversity Limited. The aim is to provide essential support to the families of foreign domestic helpers who tragically lost their lives in the Wang Fuk Court fire in Tai Po, Hong Kong and to formally recognize their extraordinary bravery.
How to Contribute
1. Donate to Support Grieving Families
The Donate One-Day Salary Campaign is launching to establish a sustained fund dedicated to supporting the families of the deceased helpers. Your generous contribution will profoundly impact those facing unimaginable loss.

All donations will be managed with complete transparency and accountability, overseen by a Board of Trustees including respected figures such as Joseph Wong Wing Ping GBS, JP, and Dr. John Tse Wing Ling. Regular financial and impact reports will be published, and beneficiaries will be verified in collaboration with the Philippines and Indonesian Consulates.
2. Nominate Heroes for Official Recognition
Help formally recognize the extraordinary courage displayed by these helpers through the Hong Kong Government’s honours system. Notable nominations include:
Medal for Bravery (Gold):
• Maryan Pascual Esteban (Filipino): Died protecting her employer’s child.
• Erawati (Indonesian): Shielded an infant during the fire, saving the child’s life.
Medal for Bravery (Silver):
Vame Mariz Wayas Verador, Reinalyn Niere, Rhodora Alcaraz Tuñacao, and Nerissa Catabay: Each credited with rescuing children or elderly individuals amid the chaos.
